Kayla Yax ‘18: Netflix is a dream come true for binge-watchers, procrastinators, and anyone looking for a new show or movie to watch. Netflix features hundreds of movies and TV shows of all genre types, so you’re sure to find something you like. The streaming service offers exclusive content for subscribers like Netflix originals which include many fan favorites like Stranger Things, Black Mirror, 13 Reasons Why, Atypical, and many more. Students at Romeo High School aren’t new to Netflix, so let’s look at some favorites among the student body.

Stranger Things: This sci-fi-horror Netflix original gained a huge fan base after it’s initial release in July 2016, winning the show, the creators, and the actors numerous awards and springing them into the public eye. Stranger Things quickly gained popularity among younger viewers with a thrilling storyline and a lovable cast. The show follows the strange events of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s where a group of boys set out on a journey to find their missing friend. This leads them to meet a young girl, Eleven, who has amazing psychokinetic abilities. Together they hunt for their friend whose been trapped in an alternate dimension with a terrifying entity. With Eleven at their side it’s up to them to save their friend and stop the supernatural force from taking over Hawkins.

“The whole plot is really cool, I could never guess what was going to happen next, yeah it has a lot of plot twists and really awesome characters, I watched the whole series in a day because it was so good,” Madison Mudge ‘18 said.

The Office: An American documentary-style comedy show that aired from 2005-2013, now on Netflix. The show depicts the day-to-day lives of office employees at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The Office has a quality of being entertaining without the need for an overly dramatic plot line to keep you watching.

“It’s one of those shows you could rewatch a million times and never get bored of,” Sabrina Staller ‘18 said. “It’s really funny and I like to watch it when I have free time.”

Supernatural: This horror-fantasy television series is about two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester. They both follow in their father’s footsteps become supernatural hunters. Together they hunt evil supernatural creatures like monsters, demons, and even fallen gods and angels. While trying to save innocent people for the hands of evil, Sam and Dean learn that there are powerful forces that can’t be defeated so easily.

“It has a cool storyline, every episode is interesting and different, and it’s all together an amazing show,” Kaelei Rumbaugh ‘18 said.

Jessica Jones: This show follows the tragic end of Jessica Jones’ career as a superhero, who used her powers of superhuman strength, and flight. After the end of her superhero career, Jessica Jones tries to rebuild her life and start her own private investigation agency in New York City, investigating cases that deal with people who possess remarkable abilities.

“I like superheros and I watched all the Marvel shows. Jessica Jones is one of my favorites because she’s strong and independent, and female superheros are really cool,” Angela Delacruz ‘18 said.
