Nick Blankenburg ‘16: As an historic fall sports season comes to an end, the varsity volleyball team looks to complete their quest to become back-to-back state champions this Saturday.

Defeating Livonia Churchill in a nail biter, the Bulldogs came out on top winning 3-2 in the Class A state Semifinals. The scores of the games were 23-25, 25-13, 20-25, 25-16, 15-10.

“We didn’t come out as strong as we would have liked to,” Breanna Olley ’16 said. “Thankfully we pulled out the win. We are happy but we are not satisfied yet.”

Assisting her teammates, Olley  totaled 57 assists, three kills, and six digs. Maryland Commit, Gia Milana ‘16 dominated the court as she led the team with 43 kills and 18 digs.

Adding to the team’s success Jodie Kelly ‘17 killed 14 shots and finished with 13 digs, Erica LaBaere ‘16 contributed eight kills, Madison Frick ‘18 dug 10 shots, and Kamryn Duffield ‘18 served three aces and seven digs.

The Bulldogs (48-7-1) face the top ranked Novi Wildcats (54-2-0) Saturday the 21st at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, to compete for the Class A State Championship.
