Joshua Bilski ’16- Attempting to renew their title as state champions, the volleyball team traveled to Kellogg Arena on Saturday, for a rematch of last years battle against Novi. The Bulldogs came up short in four games, 3-1.

Leading the Wildcats, Paulina Iacobelli ‘16 finished with 20 kills. Paulina’s sister, runner up for Miss Volleyball, Victoria Iacobelli ‘16 killed 13 shots. Winning this year’s State Championship game, the Wildcats cap off their 54-2 season right where they started, number one in the state rankings.

“We played one of the best games we have all season,” Breanna Olley ‘16 said. “Novi was a strong team and just happened to come out on top that day. Although we fell short I am proud of everything we accomplished throughout our entire season.”

Miss Volleyball and Maryland commit, Gia Milana ‘16 totaled 29 kills. Olley tallied 39 assists, and 15 digs to the Bulldogs effort. Erica LaBaere ‘16 also added eight kills.

With the season coming to a close, both teams should be proud of their success. Making it to a state championship is something that few athletes get to experience.

Romeo finished with an overall record of 48-8-1.
