Joshua Bilski ’16: Looking to relive the dream, the Romeo volleyball team travels back to the Kellogg Arena for the MHSAA State Championship game. For the second consecutive year, two Volleyball powerhouses, Romeo and Novi, battle for the coveted State Championship title.
The Bulldogs route to this game proved to be difficult, sneaking past Livonia Churchill in the semifinals, 3-2. Gia Milana ‘16 led the way for the Bulldogs with 43 kills and 18 digs. Breanna Olley ‘16 also contributed 57 assists and three kills.
Defending their state championship title, the Bulldogs hope to become the first team in Romeo High School’s history to claim a second state title.
“We are so close to making history,” Amber Flynn ‘18 said. “One more game and we are back-to-back state champions, unreal.”
The Novi Wildcats are no easy task. According to MaxPreps, the Wildcats sit atop the state rankings. Owning an overall record of 54-2-0, the Wildcats swept their last two opponents. Winning their last game against Grand Rapids Christian, Ally Cummings dominated with 12 kills.
Ending the season with a win is the ultimate goal. One of these two powerhouses will leave Kellogg Arena as D1 State Champions. Gametime is at 2pm tomorrow! Go dogs!
