Megan Doyle ‘21: The Romeo Bulldogs Soccer team played Cousino on Monday, October 12th. With intensity, the bulldogs fought for a 0-0 tie, putting them in second place in the MAC White division.
No matter the outcome of the game, Romeo remembers to congratulate themselves for their hard work after facing hard competition.
“We played great as a team and to tie Cousino felt good because they are a pretty solid team. But, now we are just focused on getting far in the playoffs because it’s been a goal of ours for a long time to make a run in districts,” Austin Taseski ‘21 said.
More focused than ever, the Bulldogs plan on preparing for the big games coming up in their schedule.
Fast forward three days, the Bulldogs faced their first district opponent against the Oxford Wildcats.
At the end of the first half, the bulldogs held the lead to 2-0, both goals coming from seniors Rainier Lopez ‘21 and Taseski.
The Wildcats stepped it up in the second half scoring a penalty to reduce the lead to one goal. Although the Wildcats fought very hard, the Bulldogs locked down on defense in the final minutes and took home a victory. The bulldogs obtained an overall record of 8-4-3 with this win.
“After this win I feel really good going against Clarkston. If we play like we did against Oxford we can beat anyone,” Lopez said.
In order to proceed to the district finals, the Bulldogs need to come out with a win against the Clarkston Wolves on Monday, October 19th.
