Justin McNulty ’20: Taking the ice Saturday, December 9, the U of D Jesuit Cubs defeated Romeo hockey 8-0. The Bulldogs traveled to Hazel Park Ice Arena, looking to bounce back from the 3-0 loss, suffered against Lake Orion this past Thursday, December 7.

Saturday’s game continued their recent downhill trend, by adding another loss to the Dogs resume. In fact, Romeo and Jesuit only competed for 2 periods before officials called off the remainder of the game for a “goal differential” or mercy rule.

According to the MHSAA, any time a school obtains a lead of 8 or more goals before the start of the 3rd period, it’s the official’s duty to conclude the contest, making the stoppage on Saturday mandatory due to the rule book.

This conclusion of this game, sustained a 4 game losing streak for Romeo, bringing their overall record to a 2 wins and 4 losses so far on the season.

The Bulldogs suit back up for two battles this week, when facing L’Anse Creuse North, Friday, December 15, and Midland Dow, Saturday, December 16, with both scheduled to take place at Suburban Ice Arena in Macomb.

“These upcoming games should have a huge impact on the remainder of the year,” Joseph Milana ‘19 said. “We have to turn things around immediately and get back to playing and winning hockey.”
