Romeo Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to Grosse Pointe North Tuesday, February 18th, to take care of business. The Lady Bulldogs finished off the Norsemen for the second time this season in an overtime shootout, 58-55.
Trailing North the entire second half, Romeo came back in the final minutes of the fourth quarter to tie up the back and forth game. Jodie Bosheers(12) was able to get an offensive rebound and putback with 10 seconds left to force the game into overtime with a score of 49 all.
Lindsey Hernden(12) lead the Bulldogs with 20 points. Rachael Boeve(12) put up 13 points , including two clutch free throws in the final seconds of the game, extending the final lead to 3. Bosheers finished 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
The difference maker for Romeo; free throws. The Lady Bulldogs shot 81 percent from the line.
“At the end of the game we came together and worked hard. Our free throw shooting was really clutch in the fourth and in overtime,” Hernden said.
The win finalizes the girls regular season record to 16-3 overall, 10-2 in the MAC Red. Romeo’s plays their first District game Wednesday, February 26th at 7 pm at Stevenson High School. The Bulldogs will face the Eisenhower Eagle’s in hopes of advancing to the District Finals
