The Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams hosted their first ever “Meet the Bulldogs Night”, On Monday, December 2nd. Along with performances by Varsity Dance and Cheer, the Bulldogs invited Romeo Community members to participate in games for all ages while providing fans an opportunity to get to know the athletes. Raffles were also held for Bulldog Basketball t-shirts and a grand prize of two Pistons tickets. From elementary to high school, kids of all ages filled the gym excited to meet the teams.
“It was great to be seen as role models, and it was fun to play with the kids” Jon Towne (12) said.
Following the introduction of the teams, the fans took the court for a few fun competitions including making a basket for pop, and dribbling for candy.
“It was as a lot of fun to participate in a big event and get to know everyone, “ Alexandra Bellas (12) said about the night in general.
After the performances by Cheer and Dance, fan competitions, and raffles were done, the boys and girls basketball teams lined up for a three point shootout. The ladies chose Lindsey Hernden (12), Raechel Boeve (12), and Breanna Sorenson (11) to compete; the boys were represented by Ryan Romer (12), Adam Davis (12), and Jon Towne (12). Each player had one minute to make as many 3 pointers as possible; the team with the highest combined score would be named the winner. The ladies finished on top, out shooting the boys 27-24.
“The shootout was the my favorite part because the girls team beat the boys team,” Sorenson said.
