Brooke Hochstein ‘17: Shocking the world, results of the presidential election became finalized early Wednesday morning. Against all odds, Republican candidate, Donald J. Trump won. Pulling in a total of 279 electoral votes against his opponent Hillary Clinton, whose votes totaled out to 228 electoral votes. Although Trump won the presidency, the closeness of the election has split the American people like never before.
According to the Washington Post, “The probably most divisive and scandalous election in American history has eroded voter faith in the two-party system, as many voters called it a game of money, power, and influence,” state-run news agency, Xinhua said.
What the future holds, we may not know, but one thing is for sure, Donald J. Trump is officially the 45th president of the United States of America.
