Zef Djurasevic ‘19: On Saturday, February 16, Romeo Wrestling advanced three wrestlers to the Individual State Tournament which takes place on March 1 and 2 at Ford Field. The three wrestlers moving on include: Rylan Watson ‘22, Caleb Youngblood ‘22, and Dominic Todaro ‘19. With a week this important, the wrestlers come in with new goals to achieve and experience many different emotions.

In his first state meet appearance, Youngblood relishes the chance to compete.

“It feels really good to make it to states, but it’s a little nerve-racking as well. I want to place this year so I can follow it up the next three years and hopefully stand at the top of the podium one day,” Youngblood stated.

Watson appreciates the chance to show off his talent in his first state appearance.

“I’m hoping to place, I think it would be really cool to do as a freshman. I’ve been working hard this week and just improving my game all-around,” Watson said.

Competing in his fourth state meet, Todaro feels the pressure to come home a State Champion.

“This year is my last go around. My goal was to always walk out of high school a State Champion, and this can be my year. It’s obviously a little nerve-racking, but I’ve trained for this my whole life and it’s nothing new to me,” Todaro emphasised.

Please come out and root on our three wrestlers and support them on achieving their goals.
