Brandon Motoligin ’17: Playing their last game on the grass at Barnabo Field, Romeo picked up a convincing 21-7 win over Waterford Mott. With the win the Bulldogs claimed their second consecutive district title, and their first district title won at home.
Led by running back Malik Jones ‘18, who carried the ball 18 times for 131 yards and a touchdown, the Bulldogs dominated Waterford Mott’s defense. Quarterback, Austen Malczewski ‘17 completed 6 of 10 passes for 62 yards. Malczewski also rushed for 24 yards and 2 touchdowns.
On defense the Bulldogs shut down the Corsairs, holding the offense to 90 yards of total offense. Dakota O’Neill ‘17 led the defense with 5 tackles and a sack. Giving opposing teams nightmares all year, the Bulldogs held opposing teams to single digits in 7 games this season.
“Our defense has been firing on all cylinders as of late,” Kade Messner ‘17 said. “I know if we come out like we have the last three games this next game at Clarkston will be a war.”
The Bulldogs look to keep rolling this Friday as they play the Clarkston Wolves at 7 p.m. at Clarkston High School. The Bulldogs won their last matchup against Clarkston 28-14 last year in the first round of the playoffs.
