Brooke Hochstein ‘17-It’s almost summertime, and for music lovers that means concert season. Whether it’s a country concert at DTE or a rock concert at The Fillmore, there’s a little something for everyone. Students at Romeo High School are especially looking forward to seeing their favorite music acts perform live.

Senior at Romeo High School, Alexis Spiegel, is a huge country music fan and she plans on attending quite a few concerts this summer.

“I bought tickets to see Granger Smith and I’m also going to Faster Horses this summer. I’m really excited to see my favorite artists with all of my friends,” Spiegel ‘17 said.

While some students prefer county, others would rather sing and dance along to hip-hop music.

“I’m going to the Mike Stud concert the day before graduation,” Courtney Henderson ‘17 said. “I’m going with my friends and boyfriend; I think it’s gonna be a fun night and a great way to end the year.”

If you haven’t bought tickets to a summer concert yet, don’t worry there’s still time left. An easy way to buy tickets is online through numerous sites such as TicketMaster, Stubhub, and SeatGeek.

“I’m more into acoustic-folk music, so I hope to see Jack Johnson this summer. I haven’t bought tickets yet, but I plan to,” Carly Wilson ‘17 said.

An issue some students come across is how to pay for the tickets. Some concert tickets can be outrageously expensive, way out of a high school student’s budget. However there are a few ways to save up money to afford these tickets: take some extra shifts at work, help your parents around the house, or even save birthday money.

“I really like alternative rock, so if I could go to any concert this summer I would want to go to All Time Low because I’ve liked that band since middle school,” Chloe Alverson ‘17 said. “I would probably save up money by babysitting.”

The students at Romeo seem to like all different types of music, but no matter what your favorite  is, there is sure to be a concert coming to town this summer that you will enjoy. Whether you’re go with friends, family, or anyone else, you’ll have a great time and make memories that will last you a lifetime.
