Preparing for playoffs with a scrimmage against St. Clair, the softball team isn’t taking this years playoffs as a joke. Scrimmaging one of the top ranked softball teams in the MAC Red, the girls dominated the Saints with a 9-4 victory. Competing in the state semifinals the past two years, yet coming just short of the state title, the bulldogs focus and determination to win the title is apparent on and off the field.
Pitching a solid game, Madyson Collins ‘17 pitched five innings, and Dana Lewis ‘15 pitched two holding the Saints offense to just four runs.
“My changeup was working well and I was hitting my spots well with my fast ball,” Collins, starting pitcher, said.
Hitting plenty of home runs as a team, Madison Jones ‘17, Morgan Gardner ‘16, and Erin Barg ‘15 all knocked one out of the yard. Breanna Olley ‘16 went 3-3 with three singles and two RBI’s.
“Going into playoffs, we are going to take it one game at a time,” Olley ‘16 said. “We are prepared to compete, and play Bulldog softball.”
Starting for a state championship run, the Bulldogs play against the Eisenhower Eagles, Saturday, 10:00 at Eisenhower High School.
