Kyle Smith ‘16 – Under Chris McInally’s new coaching, the varsity soccer team kicked off the season with a 1-2 record in league games.
Unforunately, injuries spoiled the start of this season. Midfielder, Cody Martin ‘16 returned September 16th, after missing two weeks of the season. The latest loss for the team happened earlier this week. Defender, John Messing ‘18, dislocated his knee in a loss to Lakeview.
Despite these injuries, several JV players stepped up to fill the void. Proving to be a valuable asset, Ryan Danaj ‘18 earned himself a permanent spot on the team.
Wednesday night, the Bulldogs played the Dakota Cougars, suffering a tough 5-0 defeat.
Captain, Jon Borgiel ‘16 let his team know he is still determined to win after the game.
“Guys, don’t get depressed over this loss,” Borgiel said. “We cannot turn on each other like we were before. If you’re as upset as I am, we need to prepare to destroy Grosse Pointe North on Monday, and we will do it.”
Looking to rebound on their latest loss, the boys play at home against Grosse Pointe North, Monday night at 6:00.
