Azja Stroud ‘16 – October 31st gave the Romeo community a preview of what this winter experience will be like; cold. With snow quickly approaching, Ski & Snowboard Club prepares for their seasonal start.
The first Pine Knob trip is scheduled for Wednesday the 10th of December, followed by Dec 18th, Jan 7th, Jan 15th, Jan 21st, Jan 29th, Feb 4th and Feb 12th. Mr. Griffin and Mr. Boggio, who have taken the responsibilities of club advisors, express an eagerness for the season to begin.
“I thought it was a good way to get involved with kids and still combine it with my hobby,” Griffin said.
“Absolutely I’m excited, I’m an experienced skier, and I ran ski club 10 years ago so I thought it’d be a good way to get a ski in every week,” Boggio said.
Ski club requires a one time registration fee of $10, but a student discount card is highly suggested which brings the total to $18.
“Money is normally due the Tuesday before, we ski on Wednesdays and Thursdays depending on PLC schedule,” Griffin said.
Bus transportation will be provided for participants each week to and from Pine Knob. Scheduled departure generally is to leave at 2:30 p.m. and return around 9:00 p.m. If there is a PLC day the week of a scheduled trip, ski club will regroup that Thursday instead.
What better way to endure the frigid months then to form a mutual bond among other students and staff over ski lifts and bunny trails? All are encouraged to venture out to the slopes joined by the company of both Romeo’s veteran and amature skiers.
