Abigail Price ‘20: On the night of Saturday, October 27, gunfire erupted in a McDonald’s located in Birmingham, Alabama. At about 10:45 p.m., a masked man burst through the doors and opened fire, injuring three people– two adults and a juvenile. Emergency responders rushed the victims immediately to the hospital pronouncing one adult dead and expecting the other two to make a recovery. Exiting the building, an armed customer shot back at the masked man. The gunman later died at a local hospital, leaving the small, heroic family wounded. Many employees rushed to the freezer for protection when the shooting began, imagining the worst possible scenario happening in the building. The slain gunman remains unnamed as well as the armed customer.
