Justin McNulty ‘20: Jack Wilson’s streak as an all state runner continues for the second straight year, as Wilson finished 11th in the boys state cross country meet.
The countless hours of practice, running mile after mile, continuing on for which seems like forever to the average person, drove Wilson into the position to succeed.
Wilson’s practice plan consisted of running about 50 miles per week, while finally starting to run less and focus more on recovery the weeks prior to the state meet.
Cross country, a sport which seems undesirable to those opposed to running, allows Wilson a chance to display his passion.
Wilson competed in his third state cross country meet of his high school career, qualifying for the event every season since Freshman year.
The first 30 finishers in the meet earn All-State honors.
Wilson met the standards for all state last season, while qualifying for it again this season with his time of 15:54.0.
Wilson also represented Macomb County well, finishing as the second best runner from the Macomb Athletic Conference.
“This season showed that all my hard work and sticking to the strict plan of running around 50 miles a week paid off yet again,” Wilson said.
Congratulations to Jack Wilson on earning his second All-State honor.
