Zef Djurasevic 19’: As the boys wrestling season comes to an end, we recall their great season. With a team record of 25-9 the team performed well throughout the season, including a 14 meet win streak. They also won many duel tournaments and grew as a team throughout the season.
“This year was good for us, it was a giant cornerstone,” Jacob Clifton ‘20 said. “The seniors started setting goals for us to reach and we became better every day. We have a young team, and have some amazing talent coming up from the Middle School, so next year and years to come should be great.”
Romeo also finished with 12 wrestlers placing at the Individual Mac Red/White Tournament, five wrestlers placed at Individual Districts, three placed at Individual Regionals, and two place at Individual States.
“It felt good to place at the state tournament, especially as a freshman,” Caleb Youngblood ‘22 said. “I got revenge on someone who beat me twice this year to place. I expect myself to place higher than fourth next year and to be a State Champ as a junior and senior.”
“Looking at the overall picture I was a four time State Qualifier which not many can say, and also a two time All-State. High school wrestling was one of the best experiences of my life and I never realized how fast four years could fly by” Dominic Todaro ‘19 said.
With the incoming freshman class, and the current wrestlers on the team showing promise for the future of Romeo Wrestling. They look to improve next year.
