Tyler Holman ‘19 and Adam Sebastian ‘19: On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, the Romeo Bulldogs Girls varsity tennis team took on Port Huron High School . Despite losing 6-2, the Bulldogs failed to go down without a fight. Tessa Holman ‘22 and Amanda Haio ‘19 led the Bulldogs earning the two singles wins for the team.
Despite facing harder opponents this season, the girls look to improve and learn by placing a positive outlook on results of each match.
“With the upgrade in competition upgrading to MAC Red I feel like we can learn from each meet against these impressive teams and keep improving everyday,” Laney Robinson ‘19 said.
On Wednesday, April 24, the team took on their crosstown rival, the Eisenhower Eagles. The team failed to win a single match against the Eagles but look to stay positive with a better performance the next time they face Eisenhower.
“We need to work on placing the shot and communication, positioning, and our serves,” Natalie Nowak ‘20 said. “Even with the negatives I think this is going to help us improve because it teaches you valuable information and you learn how to play better like the elite competition that you are playing.”
On Thursday, April 25, the girls took on Marysville and came out victorious. The girls took control of the competition extremely quickly winning in a convincing 7-1 final.
The team rallies behind Ava Muschong ‘21 from an admitted poor outing according to her high standards.
“Yesterday the team was really supportive even though I had a tough day they had my back and were only positive,” Muschong said. “Next week we should have two wins out of three and continue to have a really great season from now on,”
The Bulldogs look to improve their record with upcoming matches against the St. Clair Saints, Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils, and the Oxford Wildcats on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday respectively.
