Kayla Yax ‘18 & Megan Ferguson ‘19: From the pool to the big stage, Paul Davidson ‘18 is one of the many talented students here at Romeo High school. Davidson, who’s been a part of the swim team since 8th grade, now swims for Romeo’s Varsity team as this year’s captain.
“When I was 4th grade we were looking at a handout that the school passed out of all the different sports,” Davidson said. “It talked about swim lessons and I was like ‘oh maybe I could try that out’ so my mom signed me up. I really enjoyed that so I’ve been in that [swim team] for about 5 years.”
Davidson’s skills and passion for swimming are clear to anyone who gets to know him. As this year’s Varsity team captain, he holds the task of keeping the team focused and preparing them for each meet.
“It’s difficult because I have to get everyone to listen to me and if they decide not to, I have to make sure they all respect me,” Davidson said.
Not only is Davidson a talented Swimmer, he’s also an active member of the Romeo Theater Company (RTC).
“I’ve always been into acting since I was a kid,” Davidson said. “When I was a kid I always wanted to be an actor in the movies, I did it for the school and when I was a freshmen I auditioned and I didn’t get a part so I ducked out for awhile. Then I got back into it sophomore year and I’ve been in the last couple plays that we’ve done.”
Davidson who’s been featured in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Arsenic and Old Lace, and You Can’t Beat the House, is excited for what the rest of his last year in RTC will bring. As senior year comes to a close, Davidson plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University in the fall, and continue his love for theater and swim.
