Haley Golembiewski ‘20: After driving two hours, all the way up to Pine Knob, Lydia Jackman ‘21 stands at the top of the hill. Peering down at the glistening white snow dotted with trees, Jackman straps into her snowboard. Her breath catches and she is taken aback by the sight before her. She focuses in, and everything around her melts away. It is just Jackman, her board, and the hill.
“I feel really calm and peaceful but at the same time I feel excited and my adrenaline is going,” Jackman said.
Jackman is part of Romeo’s Ski and Snowboard Club, she loves to snowboard and tries to go as often as she can with either her friends or family. Her family consists of her parents and her older brother Luke.
As Jackman begins her way down the hill, her only recognizable feature underneath her helmet and mask is her long, wavy, dirty-blonde hair behind her.
When Jackman first started out, she could not quite catch the hang of snowboarding, but refused to give up. After going out many more times with her friend, she grew to be one of the best out of all of her friends.
Jackman loves her friends more than anything, becoming a huge part in her life. She does everything with them, whether it be shopping, hanging out or even joining the track team together.
Not only does Jackman participate in her school athletics, she is academic minded as well with extremely good grades, even with taking advanced classes. She receives lots of encouragement from her friends and family and tries her best at everything she does and never gives up. Jackman is very determined to reach all of her goals, because once she sets her mind to it, she can accomplish anything.
