Morgan Brown ‘17- At this year’s homecoming, Romeo aims to express its passion for Michigan. By showing fondness for several aspects of the state, RHS will be full of pride for “the Mitten”.
The dictionary definition of “smitten” is to be very much in love, and throughout the week, spirit days allow students to embrace Michigan, showing adoration for their home.
Monday included students dressing in country wear, to display Romeo’s roots, while Thursday beckons students to choose a side in the timeless Michigan v. Michigan State debate.
Floats for this year’s parade represent the four seasons, exhibiting Michigan’s frosty, freezing winters, and its warm, relaxing summers.
For nearly every Romeo student, Michigan is home. Comfort, love, and unity is found here. After noticing the people around them dressed up for spirit days, viewing the floats, and witnessing everyone come together, sporting their homecoming shirts at the Friday night football game, everyone in the school will indeed be “smitten with the mitten.”
