Justin McNulty ‘20: Ending a four year losing stint, the Bulldogs finally defeated Eisenhower High School in the latest edition of the epic crosstown rivalry.

Failing to disappoint, both teams took part in yet another hard fought battle on Friday, September 14. The Bulldogs, who came out on top 21-14, played with a greater desire while honoring a fallen teammate.

Senior running back Brock Horne ‘19 carried the Bulldogs rushing attack, scoring the go-ahead touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 21-14 with 7:25 remaining in the matchup.

Horne, accounted for two thirds of Romeo’s touchdowns on Friday, with quarterback Jack Wendt ‘19 finding the endzone, as well, to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, Romeo came to play, shutting down Eisenhower’s rushing attack. Linebackers, Cole Karwowicz ‘19, Bryce Tinson ‘20, as well as Horne, constantly provided pressure off the edge and made several big time plays.

Mitchell Hardy ‘19 as well as Ryan Heimbuch ‘19 added interceptions, to go along with a fumble recovery from Karwowicz to account for three forced turnovers on the night.

Throughout the night, both schools came together to honor the life of Gavin Miller and wore yellow in his memory.

“It was a pretty special night seeing both schools to come together to honor Gavin, and it’s a huge win for us going forward,” Joe Easterwood ‘19 said.

For Romeo, this win brings their record to 3-1 and 2-0 in MAC Red play, while Eisenhower now sits at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the MAC red.

Romeo travels to Anchor Bay to take on the Tars this Friday, September 21 at 7pm.
