Cameron Kemp ‘19: Romeo Baseball played their first home game of the 2018 season against the Warren Woods Tower Titans on Tuesday, April 10. The Bulldogs dominated, winning the game 11-1 in a 5 inning mercy. On the mound, Nathan Rinke ‘18, pitched an excellent game giving up only one hit and striking out eight. Leading the team on offense, Alexander Randall ‘18 came up with two hits and driving in two runs.
“We played good defensively and offensively and got a good win early on, but we still have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be,” Blake McRae ‘19 said.
This moved the team’s record to 2-0 with games this week still to be played at Lake Orion on Wednesday, April 11, home Thursday, April 12 against Troy, and Friday, April 13 at home versus Rochester Adams.
Jared Czapski ‘18: The Varsity Baseball team traveled to Lake Orion to play their first away game of the season on Wednesday, April 11. Coming into the game 2-0, the team felt confident they were going to put up a fight. Kaden Stively ‘19 started the game pitching and let up only 1 run in the first three innings. The Bulldogs continued to have a tough time scoring. The score, 0-1 going into the 4th inning, making for a close game. Lake Orion scored 6 runs in the 4th inning and began to pull away, while the Bulldogs only answered 1 point in the 4th. Romeo’s relief pitcher, Blake McRae ‘19, came onto the scene for the 5th inning, Lake Orion took action once again and scored 4 more runs that inning to seal the deal.
“I feel we didn’t play up to our full potential, this is a really special group of guys so I think we will be able to bounce back,” Nathan Rinke ‘18 said. “We can learn from this game and it helps we played this good competition this early because it makes us better.”
The Bulldogs came out with a 2-12 loss, bringing their record to 2-1. They have learned from their mistakes and are ready to hit the field for the next game.
