Justin Mcnulty ‘20: On Monday, April 21, the Bulldogs traveled to Eisenhower High School to kick off a three game series against the Eagles.
Romeo struggled to get the bats going all day long, and the game remained scoreless through 11 1/2 innings.
Kaden Stively ‘19 pitched lights out for the Bulldogs and finished his performance with an astounding 15 strikeouts.
Jack Cucchiara ‘20 threw well in relief, but Romeo eventually allowed the game winning run in the Bottom of the 12th, giving Eisenhower the 1-0 victory.
On Wednesday, April 24, Romeo avenged their defeat at home with an impressive 4-3 victory over the Eagles.
Patrick Vinckier ‘19 got the offense rolling early with a bases clearing three-run double in the bottom of the first inning.
Danny Vinckier ‘20, added another insurance run in the inning giving the Bulldogs an early 4-0 lead.
Eisenhower continued to fight back, but struggled to get anything going offensively, due to the strong pitching performance from Dom Hann ‘20.
Hann, went 5 ⅔ innings on the mound, before Michael Severini ‘20 took over in relief picking up the save.
The Eagles made a late rally in the top of the seventh, before Romeo closed out the game.
On Thursday, April 25, Romeo closed out the series with a 3-2 victory on the road.
P. Vinckier threw a complete game on the mound, shutting down the Eagles all day.
Offensively, Cameron Miscovich ‘20 lead the way with two RBI’s and Dom Hann ‘20 drove in the go ahead run in the top of the 7th.
Blake Mcrae ‘19 made an unbelievable running catch in the bottom of the seventh to end the Eagles chance of a rally.
Romeo won the series two games to one and continues to sit atop the MAC Red.
“This was a big series against our rival and one of the top teams we will face, and to be able to come out on top in the series is a great feeling,” Severini said.
Romeo next takes the field this weekend against Armada and Rochester Adams.
