Kade Messner ‘17 – Competing in the 2015 Watchdog Soccer game, the girl’s varsity team defeated L’Anse Creuse 4-1. The Watchdog Game is an emotional game for all players participating. Each girl on the team wore a pink jersey honoring a current/former cancer patient.
“We played with more passion this game because of all the speeches everyone gave before the game about all the people we were playing for,” Molly Ames ‘17 said. “After the speeches the seniors motivated us to play our hearts out.”
Having a solid game in net, Kaitlyn Loding ‘15 only allowed one goal throughout the match.
Finishing the first half the Bulldogs were up 2-1 over the Lancers. Amber Flinn ‘18 and Hannah Holliday ‘15 scored the two goals in the first for the team.
“We had a good start to the game,” Taylor Mueller ‘16 said. “All we had to do was finish.”
Adding on to their lead, Flinn and Mya Fregoli ‘18 scored two more goals in the second half, leading the team to a 4-1 victory.
“Playing in this game was a lot more emotional than the other games we played this year,” Sidney McClay ‘18 said. “I thought the jerseys were really cool.”
Improving their record, the girls are now 8-5-2 and are taking on Lamfield at Memorial field today at 6.
