Jared Czapski 18’: Mya Fregoli ‘18 signed her letter of intent to further her athletic and academic career at Michigan State University. Mya has been playing soccer for the past 12 years of her life, and is finally able to take her skills to the collegiate level. Fregoli verbally committed to Michigan State her sophomore year of high school, and has been waiting ever since then to finally sign the papers to make her move.
Fregoli plays soccer year round as a center midfielder, and she had taken a crucial blow to her athletic career in 2017. She tore her ACL in a soccer tryout, taking her out of sport for about 9 months. Mya, being the extremely hard-worker she is, is making her way back to the field more quickly than she had thought.
“It was a setback with my training and preparing for college but it really helped me focus on the mental aspect of the game and made me realize just how much I love the sport,” Fregoli said.
Most people take a lot of time to decide where they would like to go to college, and what they would like to do with their future. But it didn’t take long for Mya to know what was right for her.
Mya stated, “When I was visiting other schools it didn’t give me the feeling like I was meant to be there, and State did make me feel that way.”
Fregoli is on the way back from injury and ready to put her skills into full effect on the field in next years collegiate season, congratulations and best of luck to Mya.
