Steven Morris ‘16: The Romeo Bulldogs lost their second game of the year on Saturday night against 14 ranked in Division 2 Midland Dow, 5-4. With a record of 21-2-1, the Bulldogs play their last game left this year on Thursday.
Scoring for the Bulldogs, Nick Blankenburg ‘16 scored once, Logan Jenuwine ‘16 netted two, and Brett Lanski ‘17 added one. Goalie Nolan Kare got his 24th start of the year.
“We took Midland Dow for granted, as a leader and captain on this team I take full responsibility for this loss,” Blankenburg said. “It’s another reality check that if we don’t play our game anyone can beat us, with that being said I think were the best team in the state and we will prove that in March come playoff time. I’m glad this reality check happened now rather than in March.”
Coming into this week, the Bulldogs rank fourth in Division 2 and ranked sixth in the state after Tying number 1 ranked in the state Hartland 1-1 on February 13th.
Looking for a big bounce back game before playoffs, the next and last opponent of the regular season will be Lake Orion. The game will be played at the Detroit Skate Club this Thursday the 25th at 7:45.
After this Thursday’s game, playoff start for the hockey team and for the town of Romeo. Both the team and the town are hungry for another school state title, following the recent successes of volleyball and football.
