Kayla Kieleszewski ‘18 & Morgan Mueller ‘18- With homecoming week approaching quickly, many preparations take place in order for the eventful week, full of activities, to run smoothly.

Students looking for fun can attend float building on Saturday and Sunday, October 15th and 16th. Float building will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m.to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Assigning different countries to each grade, students decorate their floats according to the “around the world” theme. Freshmen are in charge of Egypt, sophomores have China, juniors are representing Mexico, and seniors were selected to recreate France. After the completion of the floats, judges will judge them during the Homecoming parade on Wednesday.

On Monday, October 17th, the senior girls take on the junior girls in the annual Powderpuff game. The game, at Barnabo Field at 7 p.m., is a flag football game between the senior and junior girls that takes place every year as a fundraiser for the senior class. This week, the coaches prepare their players by practicing everyday after school and teaching them plays and positions so they are ready for Monday. Come out and support the girls!

On Wednesday, October 19th, at 6:30 p.m., the whole community comes out to watch the Homecoming parade. Sports teams, clubs, elementary schools, parents, and teachers all gather to walk down Main Street together. Each grade shows off their floats during the parade.

On Friday, October 21st, the Romeo Bulldogs play the Fraser Ramblers at home in the last game of the regular season. During the game, the senior homecoming court will be announced. This is a chance for the community to get together and cheer on the Bulldogs.

Romeo High School holds the annual Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 22nd, at 7 p.m. All the guys and girls prepare hours in advance so they look their absolute best in their clean suits and fancy dresses. The dance offers great music and an exciting atmosphere. All grades are welcome for a good time.

Homecoming week is a fun and busy time for the students to enjoy. With all the special events going on, there is something to do almost everyday. Be sure to attend these activities and show off your school spirit!
