Brandon Motoligin 17: Picking up a 4-3 win against Stoney Creek over winter break on December 27th at the Onyx, the varsity hockey team fell behind Stoney Creek 3-0 in the first period, but rallied to score four unanswered goals in the second and third period.
“We had a slow start to the game, but I’m glad we came back how we did and grinded out the win,” Brett Lanski ‘17 said.
Scoring for the Bulldogs, Frankie Ruffino ‘17, Brett Lanski ‘17, Andrew Cate ‘17, and Alec Lindecker ‘18 all netted one goal.
Andrew Pouliot ‘18: The following day, the hockey team took on Rochester United at the Onyx and won 2-1.
Late in the first period Rochester scored first on a powerplay goal courtesy of Matt Hawke ‘17. With plenty of time left in the game, Romeo was able to come back and tie it in the second period, when Brett Lanski scored on a power play.
After Lanski’s goal, no scoring happened until the final minutes of the third period, when Romeo struck the final blow. Frank Ruffino ‘17 scored the final and game winning goal, which was all that was needed to slight Rochester United, 2-1.
“After five straight losses, this winning streak is a great shift of confidence for us and we’ll hopefully keep this streak rolling,” Louie Rahhal ‘18 said.
Next up, the boys played Lake Orion and Dakota on January 6th and 7th, winning both games and extending their win streak to five games and evening their record to 5-5.
