Steven Morris ‘16 – Coming into the weekend 14-0, the Romeo Varsity Hockey Team had that 14 game winning streak broken by rival Eisenhower. On Friday night, the Eagles improved to 8-9 after defeating the Bulldogs 4-3.
Coming into the contest the Bulldogs were ranked third in the state by State Champs Sports Network, but they didn’t play like it.
“It was our worst game we have played all year,” Nick Blankenburg ‘16 said. “We came together as a team after the loss, we realized that no one is perfect and nothing is given, it’s earned no matter how good or bad the team we are playing against is.”
Not only playing bad, the bounces weren’t going Romeo’s way. 3 of the 4 Eisenhower’s goals came off of Romeo players, banking off of Romeo Player’s, sticks, skates, and knee pads.
The Bulldogs earned redemption the next day by winning the MAC Red and beating Dakota 9-1 to improve to 15-1.
Having a few days of practice before heading to the Chelsea Public School Showcase, the Bulldogs play against Plymouth, Escanaba, and Salem, all top 15 teams in Division 2. They look
improve to 18-1 after the long weekend of games in Chelsea.
