Andrew Pouliot ‘18: Taking place this past Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway, the girls cross country team and Jack Wilson ‘20 competed in the D1 MHSAA Lower Peninsula cross country State Finals.
Finishing third at Regionals, the girls hard work paid off when they qualified for states. In the State Finals, the Bulldogs came in 26th place as a team with a score of 562 points. Leading the ladies, Hannah Toner ‘18 finished the 5k in a time of 19:39.6, crossing the finish line in 76th place out of 244 competitors. Despite not getting the results they wanted in the finals, the girls still appreciated the opportunity.
“The finals were a great experience, I had a lot of fun,” Charlene Yarema ‘19 said. “Now we’ll be looking forward to hopefully getting to states next year.”
The boys lone boy qualifier for State’s, freshman, Jack Wilson finished 37th in the 5k with a time of 16:16.9. Only being a freshman, Wilson made a name for himself at the County meet, where he became Macomb County Champion.
