Brendan Banach ‘16 and Josh Bilski ‘16 -After being dominated in their first meeting, the Romeo Bulldogs girls basketball team welcomed the Cousino Patriots. The Bulldogs came out hot and earned a hard fought 46-43 victory.
Showing improvement in all facets of the game, their free throw shooting and bench has been the girl’s downfall all season, but these two aspects proved to be great in this contest.
“We shot 70% from the free throw line tonight, and we had been hitting in the low 40s% all season.” coach Connie Hernden said.
Seniors, Emma Giles ‘16 and Taylor Mueller ‘16 both got into foul trouble, which gave an opportunity for the younger girls.
Leading the team, Olivia Medaugh ‘19 dropped 12 points, Amber Flinn ‘18 scored 11 and Morgan Gardner ‘16 contributed 10 points.
“Yesterday’s game was by far the best game we have played all season,” Mueller said. “We snapped a four game losing streak and it was big statement win knocking off the number one team in MAC red.”
Hoping to build off this victory, the girls play cross town rival Lakeview on Friday night.
