Kade Messner ‘17 – Battling to a 45-38 victory over Stevenson High School, the girls basketball team advance to the district championship game. Showing drive and heart, the girls played one of their strongest games of the season.
“We came out strong and knew we could win,” Taylor Mueller ‘16 said. “We got the lead early and never looked back.”
Leading the Bulldogs, guard Taylor Mueller ‘16, knocking down shot after shot and breaking a few ankles along the way, scored 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists. Contributing to the scoreboard, guard Breanna Sorenson ‘15, banked two three pointers and ended the game with 13 points.
“Breanna was great in the first half, knocking down those two threes and played really good defense tonight, too,” head coach Connie Hernden said. “Taylor knocked down her four free throws when we needed her to at the end.”
Forward Bethany Jones ‘15 dominated the boards with complete control, pulling down 6 rebounds and scoring 10 points of her own.
“We are very confident going into the championship game Friday,” Mueller informed. “If we come out how we did today, we will be in good position to win our district.”
The Bulldogs play Friday at 7 against Eisenhower in the MHSAA district championship game. It is a home game so come on out and support the Bulldogs!
