Brendan Banach ’16 & Nick Blankenburg ’16: Improving to 6-0, the football team defeated the Dakota Cougars (4-2) 26-14, in a MAC crossover game. Coming into the contest, the Bulldogs and the Cougars both knew it would be a battle.

Plunging into the endzone, Dominic Bongiorno ‘16 scored on a one yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Extending their lead, Lucas Schimon ‘16 caught a 41 yard touchdown pass from quarterback, Paul Hurley ‘16. Dakota answered with a six yard touchdown, to make the score 14-7 at halftime.

“Being up at halftime was hype-beast,” Dakota O’neil ‘17 said. “But we knew had a lot of game left to play.”

Kicking a 22 yard field goal, Zach Nies ‘16 put the Bulldogs up 19-7 in the fourth quarter.

Clawing their way back into the game, Dakota struck late in the game, with a 64 yard touchdown pass.

Securing the win, Brad Tanner ‘16 picked off a Cougar pass, taking it 70 yards for a Bulldog score.

“We wanted this game bad,” Tanner said. “It feels amazing to beat them, especially on their homecoming. This is a huge win and a big statement.

The Bulldogs next game is against Port Huron, Friday the 9th, at Dan Barnabo Field.
