Romeo football fans have something to be excited about this season. On Saturday September 28, at noon the Bulldogs will take part in the annual Gridiron Classic against Stevenson. This is something the whole town of Romeo should get excited for. Its important that the Bulldogs get the win, with a 1-2 start to the season.
The players however are excited nonetheless. “I’m ecstatic to play at Ford Field. Some of my favorite Lions’ players have played here,” said Senior defensive end George Wilson. It’s a big deal playing in Ford Field, a stadium that holds 65,000 people. There will be fans from six different schools attending the game. For a high school team to play in that environment can be, to some, overwhelming. Even though it hopefully won’t be the only highlight of the season it is definitely something the Romeo Seniors will remember for a long time.
Coach Jason Couch is excited about the big picture. “The opportunity to watch a Lions game and say I played there,” said Couch. Every game he tells his players “it’s not about who we play it’s about how we play.”
