Ava Vendittelli ‘22: Continuing their three year streak, Romeo High School’s equestrian team made it to regionals. After placing first districts, the team traveled last weekend competing in regionals against other district winners, Lowell, Laingsburg, Allendale, Onsted, Armada, Stockbridge, and North West.

The team participated in show meets throughout the month of September, competing against different schools, all in hopes of reaching the next level. Each riding in different classes, the teams compete for overall points. The weekend of September 18th, Romeo High School competed in districts against two other teams, and after an adrenaline-filled meet, joy rushed over the team after hearing they progress to regionals.

“It’s one of the coolest feelings ever. The excitement of horse shows and hearing the placings, it’s so rewarding to see all your hard work pay off,” Marlee Bahorski ‘22 said.

At regionals, the equestrian team traveled to compete against other winning teams of their district in Macomb County. After amazing performances from each school in all classes, Romeo High Schooled finished fourth place overall.

“I’m so proud of the team, everyone has been working so hard and it really showed,” Maddy Skelly ‘22 said.

Yet another successful season for the equestrian team members, they felt grateful to show off their skills at regionals for the third consecutive year. With high hopes of continuing that streak, the team continues practicing and look forward to the upcoming season. Congratulations, equestrian team!
