Jared Czapski ‘18: The girls Varsity Basketball team traveled to Stoney Creek High School to play the Cougars in the district playoff game. Going into this game, the girls knew this game could very well be the last basketball game of the season, and for the seniors, their last game ever.
“It’s really sad, I’ve been playing basketball since I was just a little girl, and it’s hard to accept the fact that this could be the last game I play for the rest of my life,” said Amber Flinn regarding the game.
The Bulldogs were favored to win this game, continue their playoff run, and further their season. The game started out slow, both teams neck and neck. Halftime came around and Bulldogs were down by 2, they knew they needed to do something to pull back in the second half.
“Our shots just weren’t falling and a couple of us got into foul trouble so a couple of our starters were sitting,” commented Amber Flinn on the second half.
Early into the 4th quarter the Cougars pulled away and the Bulldogs couldn’t keep up. The final score ending in a 45-31 loss for the Bulldogs. A heartbreaking game for the girls. Finishing the season with a winning record, and only losing 2 seniors, the girls will be back next year, hungry for more.
