Zef Djurasevic 19’: Over the weekend, the boys and girls Cross Country team qualified for States. The boys team finished third behind Clarkston and Stoney Creek, with a total of 105 points, while the girls team finished second behind Clarkston, with 91 points.
“It feels like we’re on the right track. It’s been a goal for us to go to states since last season, and now it’s cool to see us achieve our goals.“ Maddy Malczewski ‘20 said.
Malczewski finished in 18:53 making her ninth among the field at regionals, making her the highest finisher for Romeo. Charlene Yarema ‘19 finished second for the bulldogs and 12th overall. Rachel Felstow ‘22 took 17th for the Bulldogs and Barrett Schettler ‘20 ended in 25th. Sarah Greb ‘22, Ashley Quinn ‘19, and Sydney Goodrich ‘20 finished 28th, 46th, and 52nd respectively for the girls team.
“It feels great, after running 50 miles every week it shows that hard work pays off,”Jack Wilson ‘20 stated.
Jack Wilson lead the charge, with a time of 15:20, taking home first place at regionals for the boys team. Luke Schwartz ‘20 took home second for the Bulldogs and 14th overall. Charlie Wilson ‘20 pulled in 17th place for the boys. Jack Kelke ‘22, Zander Cobb ‘21, and Jack Wallace ‘22 finished 36th, 37th, and 39th respectively for the Bulldogs. Nicholas Fringer ‘21 finished in 48th.
Malczewski, Yarema, Jack Wilson, and Schwartz believe in their ability to achieve their goal of going All-State.
The XC State finals take place on Saturday, November 3rd at the Michigan International Speedway.
