Adam Sebastian ‘19: The Cross Country season came to an end on Saturday, November 4th at the Division One State Meet. The team brought nine runners: Brendan Allen ‘18, Nick Behring ‘18, Cameron Bourgeois ‘18, Andrew Goodrich ‘18, Jarrett St. John ‘18, Charlie Wilson ‘20, Jack Wilson ‘20, Madelyn Malczewski ‘20, and Hannah Toner ‘18. The varsity boys team placed 4th out of 27 teams; behind only Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, Plymouth High School, and White Lake Lakeland High School.

“We were proud [of the finish]  because we didn’t make it [to states] before and everyone ran solid,” St. John said. “The other teams had a better day. It was a good experience.”

The top thirty runners in each race earn All-State Honors; Romeo High School produced three all-state runners this year: two sophomores and one senior. Jack Wilson ‘20 finished 9th overall in the boys race, finishing second among all sophomores. Brendan Allen ‘18 also earned all-state honors finishing 16th out of 245 runners. For the girls team, Madelyn Malczewski ‘20 finished 19th out of 245 as well.

The rest of the team placed in the top half as well: Nick Behring- 44th, Jarrett St. John- 56th, Andrew Goodrich- 80th, Cameron Bourgeois- 125th, Charlie Wilson- 150th, and Hannah Toner- 100th.

The boys team returns only two out of seven runners next season. All-state runner Madelyn Malczewski returns for the girls team. The team now begins preparations for a reappearance at next year’s state finals.
