Sarah Spuz ‘17- As the cold Michigan winter weather finally comes, Romeo’s Ski Club comes to a start. Last week, Romeo’s ski club took their first trip to Pine Knob. Sam Foster ‘17 recently joined the Ski Club.
During her sophomore year, Foster was introduced to the Ski Club. All of her friends were members of the club, so she wanted to see why they liked it so much.
“All my friends were in Ski Club,” Foster said. “Plus, It looked fun and I wanted to give it a try.”
Over the past year, Foster kept trying to improve her skiing skills. In the beginning of her skiing experience, she experienced frustration, realizing it isn’t as easy as it seems. Barely being able to go down the beginner hill without falling repeatedly.
She did not know how to stop quickly after skiing going down a hill. After countless hours of practice, this year she finally mastered that skill.
“My first ski trip last year was super frustrating,” Foster said. “It was my first time skiing and I didn’t know what I was doing, I spent over three hours just trying to stand in my ski’s and trying to go down the bunny hill.”
On January 7th, Romeo Ski Club headed down to Pine Knob for their first trip of the year.
“The first trip was really fun, it wasn’t as cold as I thought it was going to be.” Foster said.
With her skiing skills improving every ski trip, her confidence builds as well. Battling the hills at Pine Knob, Foster is more than happy that she joined the Ski Club.
