Chloe Lucci ‘19: With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, it’s time to get into the spirit of love or for some people, loneliness. If you happen to be lonely and single, don’t worry because there is one very special holiday for you.

Galentine’s day, February 13, is a girls-only holiday inspired by Leslie Knope on the show Parks and Recreation. A holiday just for the single ladies out there or even for those who are taken and just want to kick back with their gals. Even if you have many single friends, like myself, Valentine’s Day can be the perfect option for a belated Galentine’s day.

Take a break from your busy school work, or annoying boyfriends to enjoy the company of your best friends. Whether it be going to the movies or getting your nails done, you can do almost anything to make memories with your besties.

“This Valentine’s Day me and my friends are going to see the new Fifty Shades of Grey movie and getting our nails done,” Gabby Ames ‘18 said.

If Fifty Shades isn’t your style, enjoy the comedy: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, or the action thriller: Maze Runner: The Death Cure, or lastly the drama: The Greatest Showman.

Spending Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day alone can be a great way to treat yourself to a night full of luxury.

“I am going to go out to dinner with friends and then going home for a relaxing night of chocolate and face masks all to myself,” Jordan Paver ‘18 said.

Galentine’s Day provides so many great opportunities to make amazing memories and have the time of your life. Throw away the dudes, kick back, and have fun.

Romeo News wishes you a happy and safe Galentine’s Day.
