Justin McNulty ‘20: The MHSAA Wrestling Championship wrapped up this past weekend, with two Romeo student athletes placing as “All-State,” among them freshman Caleb Youngblood ‘22.

Youngblood, competed in the 112 lb pound category in MHSAA’s Division I, placing fourth in his weight class and earning all state honors for finishing within the top eight.

Youngblood becomes the first Romeo wrestler to ever place All-State as a freshman.

“States felt like they went really well and I was happy to be able to revenge one of my previous losses from earlier on this season,” Youngblood said.

Youngblood now also receives the honor of having his photograph placed on Romeo’s All-State wall as only as freshman.

Looking into his bright future, Youngblood wants to retain his All-State honors for the rest of his athletic career at Romeo, but looks to finish higher than fourth place next time.

“Ultimately, the goal for the time I graduate is to be able to call myself a State Champion,” Youngblood added.

Youngblood remains determined to accomplish a lifelong goal and looks forward to competing again next year. Congratulations to Caleb and his amazing achievement!
