Padyn Kesselring ’19: Battling through the weather last Friday, our Romeo varsity football team grinded out a win against the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils. The Bulldogs won 7-0, in a slow-paced defensive battle at Barnabo Field.
“It was difficult to score with the weather and our defense was solid all game,” Brandon Motoligin ‘17 said.
Scoring was only found in the second quarter as Kade Messner ‘17 broke loose for a 49 yard rushing touchdown. He rushed for a total of 125 yards on the day.
Suffocating the Blue Devil offense, Defensively, the Bulldogs defense only allowed Grosse Pointe South to convert twice on third down, holding them to zero points. Bailey Kamego ‘18 had five solo tackles and Ryan Medley ‘17 had four total tackles and an interception.
The weather was preventing both offenses from moving the ball as an inch of rain fell. The average temperature was a chilling 58 degrees and mud covered Barnabo Field.
“The field was very bad,” Nate Goralski ‘18 said. “Players couldn’t move, the mud was easily 5-6 inches deep. On a better field the score would have been much different.”
Facing the undefeated Warren Mott this week in a crucial game, the Bulldogs now hold a 4-2 record and play at 7:00 this Friday at Warren Mott High School.
