Austin Taseski ‘21: The Romeo Bulldogs faced the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen on the 16th of April and ultimately fell short of victory.
The guys team lost to the Norsemen 70-66 falling just one event short of the opposition.
John Jackman ‘19 placed first once again in the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints. In the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays, Cameron Kemp ‘19, Nino Brasza, ‘21, Abe Mayfield ‘20, and Jackman, all worked hard to win both relays against the Norsemen.
In the 400 meter sprint Jake Blanchard ‘20 placed first and in the one mile and two mille runs, Jack Wilson ‘20 took the Norsemen down with another long distance win.
In the field events Jake Ploetz ‘20 won the discus and shotput (40 feet 2 inches), the discus throw, a new personal best at 134.5 feet.
“From last year to this year I am really impressed with myself and my goal is to make it to States hopefully with practice and time,” Ploetz said.
The girls varsity track team lost by a score of 82-52. With the second loss of season the girls hope for improvement in their next meet.
The girls 4×100 relay team placed first with Gabriella Rimkus ‘19, Isabella Rimkus ‘21, Emma Dahms ‘20, and Ella Block ‘20 turning in a fantastic effort.
In 300m hurdles, Isabella Rimkus ‘21 also placed first. In long distance, Sarah Ross ‘19 won the two mile and Charlene Yarema ‘19 took first in the mile.
“It was my first individual win and it was a good thing to start out the season right and I hope to improve throughout the season,” I. Rimkus said.
The Bulldogs next meet is Tuesday, April 23, as they take on the Dakota Cougars.
