Steven Morris ’16 & Nick Blankenburg ’16: Romeo Hockey improved their record to 20-1 after a weekend sweep of Forest Hills Northern/Eastern and Portage Central, winning by scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

Traveling to Grand Rapids this past Friday, the boys took on Forest Hills. Starting off slow, the Bulldogs got going after Forest Hills took a 1-0 lead. The Bulldog’s offense took off like a rocket.

Leading the team, Nick Blankenburg ‘16 finished the night with two goals. Logan Jenuwine ‘16, Brett Lanski ‘17 and Blake Gabler 16’ both added a goal as well.

The following day the team traveled to Kalamazoo to face Portage Central.

After starting off slow the previous night, the Bulldogs looked to come out of the gate flying. That is just what the boys did.

Frankie Ruffino ‘17 started the scoring for the Bulldogs early in the first period, his first of three on the night. Lanski scored two goals and Jenuwine hit the back of the net to seal the 6-0 victory.

“It was great getting our first shutout on the year,” head coach Nick Badder said. “We are definitely improving on our defensive end which is going to help us alot come playoffs.”

The Bulldogs have a huge weekend coming up. On Saturday they play Bay Area Thunder and the number two ranked team in the state, Hartland on at 4:00 at Suburban Ice Macomb.

Saturday is also their senior night, so come out and support the hockey team as they continue their quest for glory!
