Rachel Peil ‘22: The varsity baseball team competed in a handful of games this week against Dakota High School, with the first game on Monday, April 19.
Josiah Hicks ‘22 pitched on the mound for Romeo.
Unfortunately, Romeo lost by a score of 2-13.
The Bulldogs faced Dakota yet again on Thursday, April 22 with Andrew Miller ‘21 starting on the mound for the dogs. Hoping to bounce back from Monday’s tough loss, the boys found themselves down 11-2 in the sixth before the comeback. Jozef Modlinski ‘22, Brady Miscovich ‘22, and Linken Hayward ‘21 all drove in two runs. Romeo won 12-11 with a walk off single from Ty Mychek ‘21.
Isaac Stively traveled to the mound for the bulldogs Friday, April 23 against Dakota. Nick Kucharski ‘21 and Mychek came in as relief, but the Bulldogs failed to secure the win as they lost 9-6.
The Bulldogs failed to pull off a win on Friday, however they remain optimistic.
“I have a positive mindset because it’s really never over until it’s over, especially with our team we have come back by multiple runs more than once. Nobody ever gives up so it’s nice to have all your teammates around you that want to win just as bad as you do,” Jack Opalewski ‘22.
The team ended the week on Saturday, April 24, with two games against Rochester Adams. Miller pitched game one and went five strong innings. Cole Tinson ‘22 led the offense with three hits and three RBIs. Alex Gintner ‘22, Opalewski, Modlinski, and Egan Kuhn ‘22 each earned themselves two RBIs. The Bulldogs crushed Rochester Adams with a final score of 14-8.
In game two, Darion Amico ‘22 started on the mound. Romeo continued their winning ways, as Hayward obtained three hits and an RBI and Modlinski secured two hits and 4 RBIs. David Inwood ‘21 singled in a run and came in for relief to secure his team the win. The Bulldogs scored seven times in the seventh inning for a final score of 14-13.
The team next travels to Grosse Pointe to compete against the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils on Monday, April 26.
