Joshua Bilski ’16: State Champions, a feat that no Romeo volleyball team ever concurred, until last season. Returning many players and going 10-0 in the MAC Red, thoughts of becoming back-to-back state champions lingered in the girls and communities minds. After defeating Dakota, Anchor Bay, Lake Orion, Eisenhower, and Livonia Churchill in the playoffs, these thoughts are becoming a true reality.
Working their way into the state semifinals game tonight at 5:30 pm, at Kellogg Arena, the girls need to win one more game to make it into the state championship game. Only one thing stands in their way, the Livonia Churchill Chargers.
Dominating and sweeping Traverse City West on Tuesday night, All-American and Michigan’s Miss Volleyball, Gia Milana ‘16 and her Bulldogs hope to carry this momentum into this semi final matchup against the Chargers.
“We played a great game against Traverse City West,” Lindsay Webber ‘18 said. “Our team is playing together and when we do that we play our best volleyball.”
The Churchill Chargers own a 35-19 record. The Chargers also swept their last opponent 3-0. Leading the way for Livonia Churchill, Rayna Yetts ‘16 finished with 19 kills and Brianna Fulton contributed 20 assists.
Playing tonight at 5:30 pm at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, the Bulldogs and the Chargers battle for a spot in the title game. Head over to Battle Creek or follow @Romeo_News on twitter for live updates on the game tonight!
