Charles Roth ’14 – The Big Red Barn was too much for the visiting Big Reds from Port Huron as the Bulldogs finished their first home game of the season with a 63 to 40 win. A packed student section set the mood early as the Bulldogs came out with a 6 point lead going into the second quarter. Back to back to back field goals by Zach Rizo(12), Drew Cushingberry(12), and Paxton Pfeil(11) helped put away the Big Reds before half, as the Bulldogs went into the locker room with a 14 point lead.
The Dogs came out rolling as four year starter Cushingberry, and a rowdy Romeo student section, helped lead Romeo to a 18 point lead in the third quarter. Cushingberry finished with 15 on the night, while Adam Davis(12) finished with 12.
“Thats the most important part of the game when you come out in the second half, because you either let the other team back in the game or [you] put them away,” head coach Marvin Cushingberry said.
Romeo’s next game will be Tuesday as the Dogs host the Falcons from Utica Ford. The Bulldogs backed by their strong student section will be in the hunt for the 3rd win of the season.
“The atmosphere is great, It’s one of the best feelings hearing them chant, and root[ing] for you, it’s like the 6th man on the court,” Drew Cushingberry said.
