Austin Taseski ‘21: The Bulldogs took on the Anchor Bay Tars Friday, September 27th, coming out with a win, to improve their record to 4-1.
The Bulldogs shot out of the gate strong, as Brian St. Clair ‘21 ran in the first touchdown of the day from 7 yards out, putting them up 7-0 early in the game.
Later in the first, Bret Miller ‘20 threw a touchdown pass to Ben Weber ‘20 to make the score 14-0.
The Bulldogs headed into the second quarter with a lot of confidence, as Miller threw his second touchdown of the day to Nino Brasza ‘21.
With a 21-0 lead the Bulldogs continued to run Anchor Bay off the turf as St. Clair ‘21 rushed for his second touchdown of the night, putting Romeo up 28-0 at halftime.
Romeo’s defense continued to show no mercy all night, not allowing Anchor Bay to find the endzone, with the only Anchor Bay points coming from a safety.
Romeo closed out the night with a statement touchdown, as Kasey Harrison ‘22 punched his ticket to the end zone, from inside the 10, to increase the lead to 35-2.
As the clock wound down, a lightning delay forced both teams to head into the locker room. After coaches came to an agreement, officials ended the game making the final score 35-2.
“As a team we were really focused at practice getting ready for Friday nights game. And we can use this win to motivate us for next week because we know what we need to fix which will help us with our game this week and games coming up,” Brasza said.
The Bulldogs face the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen at home next Friday in the 11th annual Watchdog game.
